Supercar Challenge 2027 calendar: seven weekends, three new events and a BMW M2 Cup

The Supercar Challenge 2027 calendar has seven race weekends, from the Easter Races at Zandvoort on 26 to 28 March to the V-Max Finaleraces at Assen on 1 to 3 October. Organiser V-Max Events published the schedule on 29 October, and it adds three new events and a third championship: the BMW M2 Cup.

All seven weekends are in the Netherlands and Belgium. The Mazda MX-5 Cup races alongside the Supercar Challenge at every round, and the BMW M2 Cup joins them at six.

Three-day weekends, two days per class

Every event is a bundled three-day meeting. The Supercar Challenge and the MX-5 Cup race on Saturday and Sunday, the BMW M2 Cup on Friday and Saturday. The one exception is V-Max Assen Unleashed in May, a two-day event without the BMW M2 Cup.

Before the regular season, the V-Max Nieuwjaarsrace on 10 January is a standalone long-distance race open to the whole of Dutch circuit racing.

Easter at Zandvoort, a second summer visit and a spring date at Assen

The Easter Races return as a joint event of V-Max, the DNRT and PureDriving Competition, on the weekend of Easter Sunday, 28 March. Assen Unleashed and the Summer Trophy are the other two new names. According to V-Max, they were added to keep the calendar compact while offering the same atmosphere as the Zolder Superprix and the Finaleraces.

Assen hosts three of the seven weekends. That includes the finale, the same venue where the 2026 season ended on 25 October, when the endurance race was stopped after Marlon Birdsall’s crash through the barrier.

Five Dutch teams, up to 25 BMW M2 Racing cars

The BMW M2 Cup is built around the new BMW M2 Racing. Five Dutch teams will each run up to five cars under agreed technical parity rules. The cup is aimed at young drivers stepping up from the MX-5 Cup or karting, and at BMW M enthusiasts with experience in club racing or BMW M Experience track days.

BMW M Motorsport and BMW Nederland back the series, together with two Dutch BMW M dealers: BMW Van Poelgeest and BMW De Maassche Echt. The teams have not been named yet.

Livestream for all three classes, highlights on RTL7

V-Max promises a professional livestream for the Supercar Challenge, the MX-5 Cup and the BMW M2 Cup, plus television highlights on RTL7. The V-Max Racecafé, the meeting point for drivers, teams and guests, returns as well.

Our read

A one-make BMW cup with five teams is a clear step up for the V-Max weekends. It gives MX-5 drivers a next class within the same paddock, and it brings a manufacturer and its dealers on board. The compact calendar, with no long trips abroad, should help keep budgets in check. The question is whether there are enough drivers for three full grids at once.

Season opens on 26 March, the M2 teams still to be named

The first official date is the Nieuwjaarsrace on 10 January, followed by the Easter Races at Zandvoort from 26 March. The five BMW M2 Cup teams and the entry details are still to be announced. All other 2027 dates we have confirmed so far are on our motorsport calendar 2027.
