Campos Racing F2 Team Profile: Spain’s Driver Factory Leading the 2026 Championship

Few teams in junior motorsport have a record of producing Formula 1 talent quite like Campos Racing F2. The Spanish outfit has been a cornerstone of the FIA Formula 2 paddock for nearly a decade, and in 2026 they are doing something they have never done better: leading the Teams’ Championship with two rookies. Here is everything you need to know about one of F2’s most storied teams.

Campos Racing: History and Background

Campos Racing is a Spanish motor racing team based in Alzira, Valencia, founded by former Formula One driver Adrián Campos in 1997. The team built its early reputation in Spanish single-seater series before expanding onto the international stage. A young Fernando Alonso drove for the team in 1999 and won the Euro Open Movistar by Nissan championship. That connection to greatness set the tone for what was to come.

The Campos team won the 2008 GP2 Teams’ Championship, one of their biggest moments in the feeder series. In the FIA Formula 2 Championship from 2017 to 2025, Campos amassed 43 podiums across 218 starts, including 14 wins and 13 pole positions.

Team founder Adrián Campos died on 28 January 2021 and was replaced by his son as team principal. The team continues under the family name, carrying on the mission of developing the next generation of racing drivers.

Previous drivers include Fernando Alonso, Sergio Pérez, Lando Norris, Álex Palou, Isack Hadjar, Pepe Martí and Arvid Lindblad, among many others who went on to race in Formula 1. That list is the clearest sign of what Campos stands for: a pathway to the top.

Campos Racing F2 2026 Drivers: Tsolov and León

For 2026, Campos fielded two rookies, Tsolov and Noel León, marking the first time the team had done so in F2. It was a bold call. So far, it has been a brilliant one.

Nikola Tsolov is a Bulgarian racing driver competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship for Campos Racing as part of the Red Bull Junior Team. Nicknamed “the Bulgarian Lion,” he broke the record for most wins in FIA Formula 3 history, finishing runner-up to Rafael Câmara in 2025. His promotion to F2 was no surprise. His impact certainly was. Tsolov has won three races this season, following successes in Melbourne, Montreal, and Monaco.

Alongside him, 2025 FIA F3 runner-up and Red Bull Junior Team driver Nikola Tsolov, who had already replaced Martí for the final two rounds of the 2025 season, stayed with Campos for his full-season graduation.

Mexican driver Noel León has also impressed. You can read more about him in his full Noel León F2 Driver Profile, including his brilliant pole position in Spielberg. León rounds out the top five in the drivers’ championship with 54 points after Barcelona.

Over the past two seasons, Red Bull juniors who performed well with Campos in Formula 2 have earned promotions to Formula 1 with Racing Bulls. Isack Hadjar made the step in 2025, and Arvid Lindblad followed in 2026. Tsolov is well aware of that history. You can learn more about one of those graduates in the Isack Hadjar Driver Profile.

2026 Season: Campos Racing Lead the Teams’ Championship

Campos Racing lead the Teams’ Championship in 2026. It has been a dominant campaign. Campos Racing’s five wins this season are the most in the paddock, with Invicta Racing the only other team to have won more than once.

In the Teams’ Standings, Campos Racing remain at the top with 140 points ahead of Rodin Motorsport on 112. MP Motorsport are five points clear of Invicta Racing in third and fourth with 95 and 90 points respectively.

Round 6 is happening this weekend at Spielberg. Check out the full Austrian Grand Prix 2026 race guide for the full F1 weekend context. Gabriele Minì leads the Drivers’ Standings while Campos Racing lead the Teams’ Championship, but the margins are tight heading to the Austrian venue.

What Makes Campos Racing Different

The team captured its first FIA Formula 3 Championship Teams’ title in 2025, proving their excellence across multiple categories. In a spec series like F2, where every team runs the same Dallara F2 2024 chassis and Mecachrome engine, results come from preparation, strategy, and driver coaching. Campos excels at all three.

Their Valencia base, their family-run identity, and their long history of nurturing raw talent into Formula 1-ready drivers all set them apart. In 2026, with two rookies at the wheel and a commanding lead in the Teams’ Championship, Campos Racing are not just a stepping stone to F1. They are the team every junior driver wants to join.
