Audi brings São Paulo’s pavement to Interlagos with a special livery for Bortoleto’s home race

Audi Revolut F1 Team will race a special livery at the São Paulo Grand Prix this weekend, designed by title partner Revolut and inspired by the geometric Piso Paulista pavement of Gabriel Bortoleto’s home city. The team revealed the design on Wednesday, 4 November, at Hinwil.

The pattern at the centre of the design comes from the Piso Paulista, the distinctive geometric pavement found on São Paulo’s streets. According to the team, the same visual thread runs across the Revolut-designed livery on the Audi R26, the race suits of Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg, the pit crew suits and the garage branding at Interlagos.

The livery is the latest step in a wider programme. Before the car was shown, Revolut had launched a São Paulo design of its card and adidas released its Sampa Soul clothing collection. Audi describes it as a programme that brings the team and its partners together “through one shared creative direction”.

Fans in the city can see the special livery on display at the adidas store on Rua Oscar Freire from Thursday through Sunday, the team said.

“An unmistakable identity”

Stefano Battiston, Chief Brand and Commercial Officer of Audi Revolut F1 Team, explained the idea in the team’s release:

“São Paulo has an unmistakable identity, and we wanted that to run through everything we bring to this race. Revolut’s Audi R26 special livery takes the story onto the track, building on the Revolut card and the adidas Sampa Soul collection, with the race suits and garage branding completing that shared creative language.”

He added: “For Gabi’s home race, that makes this a particularly meaningful expression of who we are as a team and how we connect with fans.”

Bortoleto arrives with points from Mexico

Bortoleto comes home on the back of a points finish in Mexico City, after a weekend in which he had very little running in practice. In the team’s preview, released on 3 November before the livery was shown, the Brazilian said:

“Racing in Brazil is always going to be very special for me. Last year was my first experience of driving in front of my home crowd, and the support I received was incredible. I grew up dreaming of moments like this, so to now be living them, and having the Brazilian fans cheering for me, means a lot.”

He is not the only Brazilian with something to prove at Interlagos. Ferrari junior Rafael Câmara makes his Formula 1 debut for Haas at the same race: Rafael Câmara makes his F1 debut for Haas at the São Paulo Grand Prix.

Slater in Hulkenberg’s car on Friday, four points from seventh

There is a change in the line-up for first practice. Freddie Slater, who had his first outing for the team in Mexico City, drives the R26 in FP1 in place of Hulkenberg. Audi has 27 points in the constructors’ championship, four short of seventh place, according to the team.

Racing director Allan McNish said in the preview that the team “felt there was more we could have done” in Mexico, “especially as Nico was in contention for points until the red flag”.

Our view

Special liveries are marketing, and Audi does not pretend otherwise: the release links the car to a bank card, a clothing line and a fan store in the same breath. Still, this one has a real local root. The Piso Paulista is something every Paulistano walks over, and putting it on the car of the Brazilian who has raced all season for the team is a smarter idea than a flag in green and yellow. The question is whether the R26 can give the home crowd more to cheer than the paint. Four points from seventh in the constructors’ table is within reach of one good Sunday.

First practice on Friday at 12:30 local, the race on Sunday at 14:00

First practice at Interlagos starts on Friday 6 November at 12:30 local time (15:30 UK, 16:30 CET, 10:30 ET). The 71-lap race starts on Sunday 8 November at 14:00 local time (17:00 UK, 18:00 CET, 12:00 ET). Results follow on our São Paulo Grand Prix 2026 results page.
