A win on the road at NLS2, taken away for one set of tyres
Verstappen’s first race of the season was the second round of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie on 21 March, after the opening round a week earlier had been cancelled. He shared the #3 Mercedes with Daniel Juncadella and Jules Gounon, completed 29 laps and crossed the line ahead of the #99 ROWE Racing BMW of Dan Harper and Jordan Pepper. The official classification lists the #3 as disqualified. Mercedes customer racing chief Stefan Wendl explained afterwards that the team had used seven sets of tyres on race day instead of the permitted six, an error made while practising driver and tyre changes in qualifying (Crash.net). The win went to the ROWE BMW.
Fastest lap at the Qualifiers, then a broken splitter
At the 24h Qualifiers in April Verstappen shared the car with Lucas Auer. They qualified sixth for race 1 and started ninth after a three-place grid penalty for contact with a Porsche Cayman in qualifying. Race 1 on Saturday evening was stopped after a serious accident and, according to the race control bulletin, did not resume. In race 2 on Sunday Verstappen led early on, but a damaged front splitter cost the car a long repair stop. It finished 38th, three laps down, with the fastest lap of the race, an 8:10.453.

Leading the 24 Hours until the driveshaft broke
The main event was the 24h Nürburgring on 16 and 17 May, with Auer, Gounon and Juncadella. The #3 was the benchmark for long periods and led the race, until a broken driveshaft in the closing hours put it in the garage. It rejoined and was classified 36th with 135 laps, while the sister #80 Mercedes of Maro Engel, Maxime Martin, Fabian Schiller and Luca Stolz won with 156. Our coverage from that weekend: the driveshaft failure, the #80 victory and what Verstappen said afterwards.
Ninth from 24th on his GT World Challenge debut
On 17 October Verstappen made his GT World Challenge Europe debut in the three-hour Portimão finale, sharing the #3 with Ben Barnicoat and Chris Lulham. A drive-through penalty before his stint dropped the car to 24th, and Verstappen brought it back to ninth, 18.556 seconds behind the winning #17 GetSpeed Mercedes. The final classification published after the race confirmed that position. The full story: Verstappen recovers from 24th to ninth at Portimão, and the Portimão 2026 results.
Before 2026: a win on his Nordschleife debut
Verstappen’s GT3 career on the Nordschleife started with a win. On 27 September 2025 he and Chris Lulham won NLS9 in an Emil Frey Racing Ferrari 296 GT3, 24.496 seconds ahead of a Haupt Racing Team Ford Mustang. “It feels great to win here in my first race,” Verstappen said afterwards, according to the NLS organisers.
The Nürburgring 24 Hours on 27 to 30 May 2027 is next on his list
Verstappen has said he wants to return to the Nürburgring 24 Hours, and the 2027 date sits between the Canadian and Monaco Grands Prix: his plans for the Nürburgring and Spa in 2027 and what he said about Spa at Portimão.
