Verstappen re-signs Red Bull until 2030 in landmark F1 deal

The four-time world champion is staying put, and the announcement could not have come at a better moment.

Verstappen re-signs Red Bull in one of F1’s biggest ever contract announcements

Max Verstappen re-signs Red Bull. It is official, it is confirmed, and it is massive. Oracle Red Bull Racing has announced that Max Verstappen will remain with the team until the end of the 2030 Formula One season. That is a deal stretching across four more seasons, locking in the four-time world champion for what could become the most dominant driver-team partnership the sport has ever seen.

The announcement dropped during the Dutch Grand Prix weekend at Zandvoort, and honestly the timing could not have been more poetic. Max himself acknowledged it. He said the moment felt special, and he expressed hope the team could give the home fans a memorable send-off for what is the final race at the circuit.

What Max actually said about staying at Red Bull

Verstappen was warm, genuine and completely on-brand with his comments. He kept it real. “I am really pleased with the contract extension. We have the best people and I’m excited to keep working together with everyone to get back to the top again,” he said. No spin, no corporate fluff. Just Max being Max.

He also made clear this is not just a business decision. “The team is like a second family for me and I feel very at home,” he added. He talked about coming to Red Bull hoping to win races and then going on to achieve things he could barely have imagined. Four world championships later, he wants to write more history in the same colours.

On working with team principal Laurent Mekies, Verstappen was positive and specific. He said getting to work with Mekies for over a year has been great, that he sees a clear vision for the team, and that everyone in Milton Keynes believes in what they are building. That is not a driver going through the motions. That is genuine buy-in.

Verstappen re-signs Red Bull: what the numbers actually look like

Let the stats do the talking for a second. Together, Verstappen and Red Bull have taken four Drivers’ World Championships, two Constructors’ World Championships and 71 Grand Prix victories. Max joined the Red Bull Junior Programme back in 2014. He made his team debut in 2016 and did something almost nobody does: he won on his very first Grand Prix start for the team.

This contract extension takes the partnership into seasons 12 through 15. That is a long time in a sport that changes as fast as Formula 1. But it is also a statement. Both sides clearly believe the best is still ahead of them.

Laurent Mekies sets out the vision for the next era

CEO and Team Principal Laurent Mekies did not hold back in his statement. He called retaining Verstappen “fantastic news for everyone at Red Bull, Oracle Red Bull Racing, as well as F1 and motorsport as a whole.” Strong words, but hard to argue with when you look at the track record.

Mekies spoke about the trust built over years, about Max’s courage to challenge convention, and about the relationship growing stronger through championship wins and tough moments alike. He was also direct about the ambition going forward. “We are not done yet. There are more races to win, more milestones to achieve and more history to write.” You believe him.

The bigger picture: Red Bull is building something serious

This announcement does not exist in isolation. Oracle Red Bull Racing is in a period of genuine evolution. Red Bull Ford Powertrains has now entered its first season as an F1 power unit manufacturer, which is a huge structural shift for the outfit. The team is also investing heavily in technical infrastructure and facilities at Milton Keynes.

Keeping Verstappen at the centre of all that is not just a PR move. It is a strategic statement. The team is betting on itself, and it is betting on Max. The Verstappen re-signs Red Bull story is really about two entities that still believe they have unfinished business with each other.

Seasons 12 to 15 together. More championships to chase. More history to write. If you are a Red Bull fan, or just a fan of watching someone brilliant do their thing at the highest level, this is the news you wanted to hear.
