Camara takes second consecutive F2 pole in Barcelona

Rafael Câmara has secured his second consecutive Formula 2 pole position, delivering another statement lap at the Circuit de Barcelona‑Catalunya. The Ferrari Driver Academy prospect set a blistering 1:24.810 on his first push lap, a time nobody could match for the rest of the session. Team‑mate Joshua Duerksen came closest, but still over a tenth short.
Camara untouchable again in Barcelona
Rafael Câmara continued his impressive qualifying form by taking back‑to‑back pole positions in Formula 2. The Brazilian immediately stamped authority on the session with a 1:24.810, set on his very first timed lap. Despite multiple attempts from the field, the benchmark stood firm until the chequered flag.
His Rodin‑Motorsport team‑mate Joshua Duerksen delivered his strongest qualifying of the season, finishing just over a tenth behind to lock out a front‑row start for the team.
Alexander Dunne recovered well after having his initial lap deleted for track limits. The Alpine Academy junior regrouped and delivered a strong final effort to secure P3, putting himself in a promising position for the Feature Race.
Minì, Villagómez and a late red flag
Championship leader Gabriele Minì improved late in the session to take P4 for MP Motorsport, while Rafael Villagómez claimed his best qualifying of the season with P5 for Van Amersfoort Racing. The session ended under a red flag after Ritomo Miyata spun at the final corner and got stuck in the gravel, preventing any final improvements.
Behind the top five, Nikola Tsolov took sixth for Campos, followed by Nico Varrone in the second VAR. Colton Herta, fresh from his FP1 outing with Cadillac, delivered his best F2 qualifying of the year in P8, with Kush Maini and Noel León completing the top ten.
Van Hoepen hit by bad luck again after promising lap
Laurens van Hoepen saw another strong qualifying effort fall apart through no fault of his own. The Dutchman was on a competitive push lap when the red flag came out for Ritomo Miyata’s crash, forcing him to abort and leaving no time for a final attempt.
It marks the second weekend in a row where Van Hoepen’s session was ruined by circumstances outside his control, last week he was taken out during qualifying, and today he was again denied the chance to show his true pace. He will start only P14 despite having the speed for much more.
