Breaking: a huge announcement is coming today

All eyes are on Max Verstappen today, with growing signals that the announcement won’t come from Red Bull as a team, but from Verstappen

Breaking: a huge announcement is coming today regarding the Max Verstappen announcement

Behind the scenes at Red Bull, there is clearly more going on than a wing investigation. This is a difficult situation for Red Bull Racing, and what is bubbling under the surface may be about to explode into the open. Respected broadcaster and paddock insider Will Buxton has teased that a big announcement is coming before the end of the day, which he calls “absolutely enormous.”

Fans are eager to hear the details of the Max Verstappen announcement as it could have significant implications for the team and the season ahead.

Buxton did not say what the announcement is or whether it is even in Formula 1. It is not clear whether Buxton is referring to an announcement in Formula 1 or perhaps in IndyCar. The Brit has a past in Formula 1, about which he currently makes a podcast. But his main job is covering IndyCar for the American broadcaster Fox.

However, many fans are immediately thinking of Max Verstappen. And with good reason. Max Verstappen can officially leave Red Bull Racing after the British Grand Prix. The Dutchman has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave Red Bull Racing if he is not in the top two of the world championship going into the summer break. That top two is now officially out of reach for Verstappen.

With Verstappen currently languishing in seventh, it is highly likely that clause will become active. That would then give him three months up to October to decide whether to stay at Red Bull or jump ship. Does the Buxton announcement relate to Verstappen making a decision about his future? Or is it something completely different? Watch this space.

Manager Vermeulen previously confirmed the clause exists

Verstappen’s manager, Raymond Vermeulen, has openly acknowledged the existence of the performance‑based exit clause. He explained that Verstappen must always be in a position to fight for wins and championships, and that such a clause ensures he can leave if the team no longer provides that level of competitiveness. With Verstappen currently outside the top two, the clause is now in effect, giving him full freedom to evaluate his future options.

Red Bull reportedly trying to buy out Verstappen’s exit clause

Multiple reports suggest that Red Bull Racing has attempted to buy out Max Verstappen’s exit clause in recent weeks. The team is said to be pushing hard behind the scenes to secure his long‑term commitment, especially now that the clause has officially become active. The move highlights just how crucial Verstappen is to Red Bull’s future, and how concerned the team is about losing him.
